NMP Somatic Education
Repattern your body through natural movement.
Neuro-Muscular Patterning

SomAlign™
Repattern your posture through natural movement.
Somatic movement for upright alignment, coordination, and everyday function.
What is SomAlign?
SomAlign™ is an upright somatic movement class that brings neuromuscular re-patterning into standing posture and daily life.
While MySoma Reset and MySoma Flow primarily take place on the floor, SomAlign transitions that awareness into vertical organization — standing, shifting weight, turning, and walking.
This is not posture correction from the outside.
It is posture reorganization from within.
Through slow, intentional movement and guided sensory awareness, students learn how to:
• reduce unnecessary muscular effort
• improve balance and coordination
• refine how weight transfers through the feet
• restore natural upright alignment
The goal is not to “stand up straight.”
It is to stand with ease.

Why Upright Work Matters
Many patterns of tension reveal themselves most clearly in standing and walking.
* Locked knees.
* Over-engaged hips.
* Forward head posture.
* Collapsed rib cage.

These are not simply structural issues.
They are learned neuromuscular habits.
SomAlign applies the principles of pandiculation and sensory awareness in upright positions, allowing the nervous system to reorganize how the body supports itself against gravity.
When coordination improves, posture follows.
Walking in SomAlign
Walking is approached slowly and intentionally — not as a drill, but as a refinement of awareness.
Students explore:
• how weight transfers through each foot
• how the pelvis organizes with each step
• how the arms and rib cage participate
• how unnecessary effort can soften

This work draws inspiration from Thomas Hanna’s exploration of walking patterns, while integrating the broader NMP framework of nervous-system-led repatterning.
Walking becomes less something you “do” — and more something you inhabit.

What a SomAlign Class Looks Like
• Primarily upright and functional movement
• Slow transitions and weight shifting
• Gentle wall work
• Coordinated arm and leg patterning
• Short periods of intentional walking
• Always within comfort
As with all NMP classes:
There is no forcing.
No rigid alignment rules.
No holding positions.
Each movement is an invitation to reorganize from within.

Who This Class Is For
SomAlign can follow either MySoma Reset or MySoma Flow.
It is especially supportive for:
• Students ready to bring somatic awareness into daily life
• Those who feel organized on the floor but lose ease when upright
• People experiencing posture-related tension
• Professionals who stand or walk for long hours
SomAlign is offered both in-person and online.
